Barbara is also a voice teacher at The Victoria Conservatory of Music, Victoria, BC. Soprano Barbara Livingston burst unforgettably onto the opera stage, singing the role of Amelia in Pacific Opera Victoria's 1998 production of Verdi's Un ballo in maschera; Her tenor was Richard Margison. Barbara Livingston�s 2003-2004 season was highlighted by her debut for the Florida Grand Opera in the title role of TURANDOT. Also on her schedule were performances of Verdi�s REQUIEM with the Vancouver and Victoria symphonies, a concert presentation of IL TROVATORE with Orchestra London and the Britten WAR REQUIEM in Toronto, London, Kitchener Waterloo and Guelph, Ontario. Ms Livingston was at the Elora Festival in July of 2004 for another outing with the Verdi REQUIEM and on Canada�s West Coast was heard in concert with fellow British Columbian, tenor Richard Margison. She starred in the title role in NORMA for Pacific Opera Victoria and in the spring of 2005 will be soprano soloist in Beethoven�s SYMPHONY NO. 9 with the Victoria Symphony. Increasingly renowned for the most demanding repertoire, �Barbara Livingston is that rare bird � a richvoiced spinto soprano born to sing Verdi, with a gorgeous top, and that all-important, full throated middle register� (Paula Citron, Globe and Mail.). She has been heard in the Manzoni Mass conducted by Mario Bernardi in Ottawa, excerpts from TURANDOT with the Manitoba Opera conducted by Stuart Robertson and had her first Wagner outing in Victoria singing scenes from TANNH�USER and TRISTAN UND ISOLDE. A student of the renowned pedagogue Selena James, she debuted with the Vancouver Symphony as soprano soloist in Britten's WAR REQUIEM, performances which inaugurated Bramwell Tovey's first season as Conductor and Music Director. She debuted in Ottawa for Opera Lyra as Leonora in IL TROVATORE and she has also sung the role for Pacific Opera Victoria and Opera Saskatchewan. Recent performance highlights include Verdi's REQUIEM for the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Amelia in UN BALLO IN MASCHERA for Opera Lyra in Ottawa, Mahler�s SYMPHONY NO. 2 in Edmonton and a return to Vancouver as soloist in Beethoven's SYMPHONY NO. 9. Ms. Livingston made her professional debut with Pacific Opera Victoria as Amelia in Verdi's UN BALLO IN MASCHERA. In recognition of her lyrico-spinto gifts, the San Francisco Opera engaged her as cover artist for their most recent production of UN BALLO IN MASCHERA. A favourite in her home province of British Columbia, she has been heard in the capitol, Victoria, in a concert of opera arias with the Symphony, in recital and as soloist (Soprano I) in Mahler's SYMPHONY NO. 8.
